Description
Fiesole is a classic Rosso Fiorentino, our first design with which our company started back in 2007. Since its first release Fiesole has been greatly appreciated for its pristine sound, musicality and distinctive design. We knew it wouldn’t be easy to update our ‘founder model’.
Fiesole series 2 is therefore the result of the implementation of our latest technologies and expertise always carried out with great respect for the achievements reached by its predecessor.
Fiesole was the first Rosso speaker to implement the concept of using mechanically different materials in one composite structure where each material absorbs and damps the resonant frequency of another material in the system. The result of this ‘team work’ is a cabinet incredibly still and firm where panel vibration modes are drastically reduced revealing great micro and macro dynamic details in the sound.
This concept has been further developed in the Fiesole series 2 by adding extra aluminium panels on the sides, new and advanced internal damping pads and a bracing system that, implementing a firm connection with the midwoofer magnet, significantly reduces the transmission of unwanted vibrations from the driver to the front baffle.
Fiesole is a two-way rear vented design. All the transducers are held in place in the rigid and damped sandwich front baffle made of thick aluminium and HDF layers.
The 6.5” woofer is powered by a lightweight long-throw voice coil and a vented ferrite magnet system. Its cone material is Nomex paper and provides great stiffness and excellent damping properties showing a very smooth response at mid-high frequencies. Inside the enclosure different types of absorbing material together with a highly scattering sound surface take care of the modal resonances voicing the midwoofer with an exceptional neutrality.
At the top of the front baffle sits the “ribbon/soft dome” section, a Rosso trademark, which combines the silk dome tweeter with our new ribbon ultrasonic generator for an amazing detailed and extended high frequency response.
The wide dispersion of the new ribbon ultrasonic generator perfectly complements the smooth and detailed Italian 28mm neodymium silk dome tweeter and starts to function at around 30 kHz and goes all the way up to 100kHz. The resulting wide-bandwidth performance greatly enhances the “atmosphere” and naturalness of the reproduced sound, giving it a truly three-dimensional quality. Nowadays, the highly extended frequency response found in the Fiesole is even more interesting, with the increasing diffusion of high-resolution digital formats alongside vinyl.
HIGH END SOUND DETAILS
THERE IS LIFE ABOVE 20KHZ…
and that is why we designed our own ultrasonic generator, a 4mm thin aluminium ribbon driven by a large neodymium magnet and capable of reaching ultrasonic frequencies up to 100kHz. With its great off-axis dispersion and accuracy in producing the leading edge of each transient, the supertweeter makes the whole system sound more natural, giving the reproduced sound a truly three-dimensional quality.
OUR BINDING POSTS
With speakers as ambitious as the Rosso Fiorentino models, attention to detail comes naturally. In order to optimise the retrieval of low level detail in the music we decided to design our own binding posts, selecting our own mix of precious materials and carefully checking each step of production. We are proud to say that this whole process is made in Italy and partly in our own laboratory
THE WAY WE ARE
Rosso Fiorentino is more than just a loudspeaker manufacturer.
RF is enthusiasm for the magic that happens every time we create a sounding machine, it’s a way of life, it’s love for music and for its ability to stir emotions and bring people together.
From the very beginning I wanted RF to be different from the other brands for its absolute acoustic performance, refined craftsmanship and Italian elegance. With the Rosso Fiorentino systems, I wish to convey our culture to the listeners, a culture that is deeply rooted within all members of our company, and which is based on a common passion for live music, an academic background in electroacoustics, and the instinctive pursuit of elegance.
Our is a Tuscan company and from our history and culture we draw inspiration to always look for new ways to improve ourselves. Our loudspeakers embody the soul of the place where they are made. Their sound reflects the character of our land… straight, essential, always caring for proportion and detail, made to last.

ITALIAN ELEGANCE
Elegance is a very important aspect of our life, a balance between innate good taste and precise choices, care for the essence and meticulous attention to each detail.
Here at RF we always look for elegance in the design. This means that our style is more than a set of aesthetic traits, it is a collaborative work between designers and engineers searching together for the ‘necessary beauty’ where every line and proportion is conceived to reach the desired acoustic performance as well as to visually reveal the characteristic of the loudspeaker system.
Francesco Rubenni and his collaborators are driven by an unparalleled passion for music and electroacoustics. Every new project is a challenge, a constant research looking for new ways to reach a better performance but at the same time never forgetting their final target…the emotional pleasure of listening to music.
We like to think of our design as the result of a deep technical understanding of how loudspeakers work and the client’s desire for an involving and breathtaking listening experience.
THE WAY WE WORK
The design of RF models is carried out by Francesco and his collaborators. Francesco follows every step of the creative process, from the initial ideas to the first sketches on paper, which then become technical, computerized and eventually ready for simulations and optimisation of the production methods and processes.
At the prototype stage, the design becomes a physical shape and the long process of measurements, listening and fine tuning takes place. During this part of the work Francesco uses all his expertise and passion to model the sound and to improve every single technical parameter of the loudspeaker.
However, as we all know, a dream never comes true unless it is shared with others.
During the listening session all the RF team joins in , but that’s not all, at this stage the involvement of our musician ‘friends’ becomes really important. Involving them in the tuning of our system, in making recordings, in listening back, in trying different technical solutions, enables us to make well balanced loudspeakers capable of playing any kind of music and evoking deep emotion in the listener.
THE MEANING OF A BRAND NAME
ROSSO FIORENTINO
Rosso Fiorentino (Giovan Battista di Jacopo, Firenze 1495 – Fontainebleau 1540) was one of the most talented and unconventional Florentine artists of the early 16th century.
He assimilated the innovations of Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raffaello but went on to experiment with a freer technique and more abstract forms.
His paintings forcefully express the strength of the colours, the sophisticated interpretation of the details, the luminosity of the reflections and an underlying artistic rigour.
The gauntlet he threw down to those who had already interpreted all there was to interpret is something that intrigues us and inspires our work daily.
